Avondale students sit the full sequence of national assessments set by Jamaica's Ministry of Education, from the first weeks of Grade 1 through to secondary school placement. We prepare them thoroughly for every one.
Taken in the first weeks of Grade 1, the GOILP is a readiness profile rather than a pass-or-fail examination. It looks at each child’s early literacy, numeracy and social and emotional development, so our teachers know exactly where to begin and where extra support is needed from day one.
A national literacy check covering letter and word recognition, reading and comprehension. Children who need more help are identified early, while the gap is still small, and receive targeted support from our teachers throughout the year.
Assesses literacy and numeracy at the end of the lower primary years. The results confirm that every child has the foundations firmly in place, and that any remaining gaps are closed, before formal PEP preparation begins in Grade 4.
Jamaica’s national assessment for students transitioning from primary to secondary school, sat across Grades 4, 5 and 6. PEP measures both what students know and how well they can apply it, and the Grade 6 results determine secondary school placement.
