Founded on Love,
Built on Excellence

Avondale Preparatory School was founded in 1951 by three remarkable sisters — Hazel, Sybil, and Mazie White. What began as a family endeavour to provide quality education to the children of Kingston has grown into one of the area's most respected independent schools.

For over seven decades, the school has maintained that close-knit, family-run spirit while consistently delivering strong academic results. Located at 9½ Retirement Road in the Cross Roads area of Kingston 5, St. Andrew, Avondale has earned a reputation as an oasis of happy learning and personality building.

The school is registered with the Ministry of Education and is a proud member of the Jamaica Independent Schools' Association (JISA).

Leading with Love

Principal Maxine Latouche leads Avondale Preparatory with a philosophy rooted in love, care, and compassion. She believes these qualities are not just nice to have — they are the very prerequisites for a top-quality education.

Under her guidance, Avondale maintains its commitment to small class sizes, individual attention for every child, and the holistic development of well-rounded personalities alongside strong academic achievement.

We do not promote huge class sizes; rather we encourage small class sizes for giving children enough individual attention. Our school has high morals with strong academic achievements.
